Mpumalanga continues to focus on the sharing of construction skills with emerging contractors and the enhancement of skills of Historically Disadvantaged Individuals at both management levels and site based operations. This is undertaken by a continuous training program which has utilized services offered through the training schemes of MBA and SAFCEC and more recently via the Construction SETA using the support facilities of locally based accredited Training Centers.

Mpumalanga’s Skills Development Program ranges from basic skills training in construction, including first aid and safety to inexperienced employees, to stock control, plant management and general management applicable from the level of foremen upwards. Through this training program a number of employees have graduated from hourly paid to salaried permanent staff and it has substantially enhanced the skills of many existing staff members.
